The essence of Piedmontese Cabernet, the 2006 Darmagi is easily the greatest vintage yet for this most original, most revelatory of wines. Opaque ruby in colour, it is beautifully toasted, delivering astounding aromas of fragrant currants, crème de cassis, blackberries, dark cherries, spring flowers, truffles, black mocha, asphalt, leather, vanilla, and spice. Extremely complex, wielding heavenly, multilayered fruit, very firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a ultra-elegant, stupendous hint of crème de cassis, blackberries, and truffles on the finish. A legend in the making, this heavenly wine should easily keep for more than two decades. Now-2032++. (Julian Hitner, The Successful Collector, October 2011)
